About Little Baby Rory Crafts

Hi, I’m Anna, and welcome to my little corner of the crochet world!

I’m so glad you’re here.

Fiber arts have always been part of my life. As a kid, I made friendship bracelets, latch hook rugs, and plastic lace keychains. I didn’t know it then, but those repetitive, creative projects helped me feel calm and focused. Later on, school and music took center stage. I was a violinist in school and played fiddle with my family on occasion, which gradually replaced my crafting time with homework and practice.

After college, I worked in early childhood education and filled nearly every free moment with jobs, volunteer work, or school. Crafting became something I only did for my students—with paint, paper, and glue, and always with a lesson plan. Eventually, I took on a director role. Then the burnout hit.

In 2018, my husband and I made a big move to a new state, and for the first time in a long time, I had space to rest and reset. Within a few months, I found myself reaching for yarn. I remembered how good it felt to work with my hands and made it my New Year’s resolution in 2019 to learn both knitting and crochet. Once I discovered amigurumi, I couldn’t stop. I was hooked (pun very much intended).

In 2023, I tried designing my own patterns. I started with a few small animals and launched my shop in March of that year. It took about six weeks to get my first sale. Encouragement from the crochet community kept me going, and I continued releasing three new patterns each month. But things really clicked when I made my first design with plush yarn: a candy corn with a cute face. That one pattern changed everything. Food-themed plushies became my thing, and I decided not to choose between small or big sizes. I offer both so you can create what you love in the size that you need.

Why “Little Baby Rory”?

My shop is named after Rory, my big, beloved cat and original crafting sidekick. He sat beside me through every stitch and stole more hooks, needles, and stitch markers than I can count. He passed away in 2021, and I still miss him terribly. We used to jokingly call him “Little Baby Rory” because he was anything but—over 20 pounds and had the disposition of a cranky old man. Naming my shop after him felt right, like he’s still here with me.

My design style and values

I design patterns that are fun and make people smile. I love thinking up designs that are a little unexpected or nostalgic, and I always try to bring something new to the table. My background in education influences everything I do. I aim to support all kinds of crafters with step-by-step instructions, clear photos, and videos whenever possible.

I believe in meeting crocheters where they are. Some folks are in it for the hobby, others for markets or as fellow designers. All are welcome. There’s no one right way to crochet, and I’m here to help people find what works best for them. You won’t find many strict rules coming from me—just ideas, encouragement, and maybe a few puns.

What you’ll find in my shop

A cozy collection of beginner-friendly patterns, offered in two sizes when possible. Each one is written clearly, includes helpful visuals, and aims to start smiles. Videos are being added to more patterns all the time to make learning even easier.

And when I’m not crocheting...

You’ll probably find me reading with a hot cup of coffee (no matter the weather), out hiking, or exploring an art museum with my husband here in Arkansas.
