Stack & Stash Pumpkins: Can You Handle It?
Share
Crochet fall is officially here, and I’m so excited to share that the Stack & Stash Pumpkins crochet pattern is live! These playful pumpkins are stacked from large to small with a witch’s hat on top, perfect for adding the first touches of fall to your home. No sewing required! These pumpkins come together fast and are ready to hide candy, notions, or little fall surprises.
Pumpkin Pile Perfection
Choose classic orange or create your own twist, like Farmhouse Stack (dark green, mustard, cream), Spooky Stack (purple, lime green, black), or Candy Corn Stack (yellow, orange, white).
Set them on a table, shelf, or entryway for a pop of seasonal fun. Mix and match your colors to make each stack unique.
Unstacking the Pumpkins
The stacked pumpkins look cute together, but let’s do a slight modification to let them shine on their own. By adding a simple crochet I-cord handle, every pumpkin becomes a classic pumpkin bucket. Now that they are separated, you can place them around your home, on your desk, coffee table, or shelves, so each pumpkin has its own spot. You can even give them as gifts!
Tutorial: Adding I-Cord Handles
Crochet I-Cord is a crocheted tube that is strong and stretchy. You can use any yarn and cordinateing hook size. For my handles, I chose worsted weight cotton yarn and a 3.5 mm hook.
How to Crochet an I-Cord:
Step 1: Leaving an 8 inch/20 cm tail, make a slip knot and chain 3.
Step 2: In the second chain from the hook, pull up a loop, then pull up a loop in the last chain. You have 3 loops on your hook.
Step 3: While holding the last two loops in place, remove your hook from the last two loops.
Step 4: Pull up a loop in the remain loop on your hook. Re-insert your hook into the next loop and pull up a loop. Then, re-insert your hook into the last loop and pull up a loop.
Repeat Step 3 and Step 4 until you reach your desired length.
To finish: With 3 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through all three loops. Fasten off, leaving an 8 inch/20 cm tail.
Using a tapestry needle and tails, sew the handle to the sides of the pumpkin. Hide remaining tails inside your work.
