A Sneak Peek at the Marshmallow Stick Pattern

A Sneak Peek at the Marshmallow Stick Pattern

I’ve got a new pattern coming soon, and this one is extra fun because it’s interactive! These plush marshmallow sticks are perfect for summer play. The best part is that the marshmallows slide on and off the sticks, making them great for pretend roasting or building your own little stack.

Materials & Tools

For this pattern, I used Knotty Ball 100% Polyester by Kayla’s Krafts (120 yds / 110 m per 100 g skein) in these colors:

  • Cinnamon (Brown) – 24 g / 29 yds
  • White – 43 g / 52 yds
  • Chocolate (Dark Brown) – 7 g / 9 yds
  • Naked (Tan) – 7 g / 9 yds
  • Lemon (Yellow) – 1 g / 1 yd
  • Clementine (Orange) – 1 g / 1 yd
  • Bubble Gum (Pink) – about 24 in / 61 cm

Note: Knotty Ball Yarn is out of stock until mid summer 2025. But you can use any bulky or super bulky plush yarn of your choice.

You’ll also need:

  • US Size H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook
  • About 1 yard of black worsted weight yarn or black embroidery thread
  • (6) 15 mm safety eyes
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • (3) 6-inch dowels (wood or plastic, 1/4 inch diameter)

How to Use Them

These work up quickly and are great for so many things:

  • Gifts for campers or summer birthdays
  • Cute and playful market makes
  • Pretend play for campouts (real or living room-style)
  • Just-for-you projects because they're honestly adorable

Easy Ways to Customize

You can keep things simple or get a little creative with your version:

  • Adjust the stick length if you want a smaller or larger look
  • Stack multiple marshmallows together on a longer stick
  • Use different yarn colors for your marshmallows

A Quick Note on Safety

Because these use safety eyes and a dowel, a few things to keep in mind:

  • Safety eyes are a choking hazard and not recommended for babies or toddlers. You can swap them out for embroidered eyes instead.
  • The dowel is fully enclosed in a crocheted sleeve, but for younger kids you may want to use a shorter stick.
  • Always supervise young children during play.

Mark Your Calendar

The pattern will be available on June 5th. Follow me on Instagram for updates and sneak peeks before launch day. I can’t wait to see your marshmallows.
